treams – a T-matrix-based scattering code for nanophotonics

D. Beutel, I. Fernandez-Corbaton & C. Rockstuhl

Computer Physics Communications · 297, 109076

Summary

How can scattering by particles, clusters and periodic arrays share a computational framework?

Uses spherical/cylindrical waves, T-matrices, Ewald lattice sums and plane-wave scattering for layers.

Supports periodic boundaries in one, two and three spatial dimensions.

Commentary

Particle T-matrices and multipole/lattice truncations must be accurate; a poor particle representation remains a bottleneck.

Offers a natural representation for particle arrays that complements a layer-oriented Fourier solver.
