ARTICLE SUMMARY / 2018

Modeling of passive and active optical periodic structures

Přemysl Ciompa

Master’s thesis · VŠB–TU Ostrava

Summary

How can periodic gratings and active dipole layers share a model that handles incoherent processes?

Combines RCWA, scattering matrices and coherence-transforming matrices, with separate demonstrations for gratings and dipole layers.

Provides a route to replacing random-phase averaging with matrix operations.

Commentary

The thesis identifies full integration, two-dimensional extensions and experimental validation as future work.

The later 2024 paper is the closest continuation; modern source-integration and optimization papers address adjacent bottlenecks.

Interpretation and connections in this note, separate from the authors’ reported findings.

Relation labels come from the method guide and are editorial. Unlabelled links are conceptual connections or comparison methods; the paper does not necessarily implement them.
